Pretty good story...

This was a good read. It started out really good in letting us know that no matter how much we love God and want to be our best for Him we are still human and make mistakes. No marriage is perfect, simply because two imperfect people are molding together with the goal of becoming one. I like the reality of the story in that the author lets us know there are no fairytales. I started getting disappointed toward the end, it sort of gets corny and predictable.

Awesome Book

I did not want this book to end. Yes, Derrick had some issues in the beginning. Stacey did try hard at first to help him and be a good wife and he pushed her way and I know that had to be hard, but like her mother pleaded with her to do was hang in there. Boy oh boy I know she was glad that she did not divorce him. How do I wish God could send me the ending Derrick...lol

The Holy Spirit Will Bring you to All Truth...

If you ask the question which author writes stories of redemption and reconciliation I would undoubtedly say Wanda Campbell. She has taken on issues in her novels such as absentee parents, old hurts, abuse, death, alcoholism, bigger than life secrets and a pastor addicted to pornography.
Many human conditions separate us from God, but it's His love that comes right in and bathes us in His grace.
How is it that a fairytale can begin as one and move forward in the same way, but somehow become weaved with issues?
Stacelyn and Derrick Garrison met in college through friends, they believed they were made for one another and both had a relationship with God. But life's challenges and their busyness pushed God further and further down the list. In relationships we have to learn to wait for one another, and we have to wait on God before we get married, a lesson Staci and Derrick quickly find important.
Derrick's insecurities, secrets and emotional instability cause him to walk away from the women he loves and their marriage just 18 months to a year old. Staci loves her husband and wants nothing more than to understand what is going on with him, but instead of sharing; Derrick retreats into himself, and makes the worse decision of his life and his past and the root of his issues meet head on.
Staci continues to try and support her husband but once he moves out all of her insecurities unfold and she begins to spend her time with Malcolm to mend an aching hurt and bruised ego. But as we all know if you are going to pray why worry? Staci would have done well if she had paid into that advice. She prayed and worried and then she just worried and pushed God right out the picture, when she needed Him the most. Instead of waiting for Derrick she moved without him, instead of heeding to Gods voice she pushed it away. Until finally she has no choice but to listen, God finally has her attention.

I enjoy how Campbell introduce her readers to flawed characters in need of God's grace. The redemption happens so naturally all the reader can do is sit back and enjoy the transformation.

Whenever I finish reading a Campbell novel I am drenched in Psalm 34:8 "O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him".

Amazing book full of creative, beautiful and varied recipes that use easy to find foods to make delcious healthy smoothies!

I have long followed the blog Green Kitchen Stories and own / regularly use the authors Green Kitchen Travels book so was excited to purchase their latest book.

I think it’s an important disclosure for anyone considering purchasing this that the title “Green Kitchen Smoothies” suggests this is a book about – and perhaps exclusively about smoothies, which is not quite the case. Though this is the main premise and most dishes center on the basic concept in some way -the book takes things step further exploring nut butters, granolas (things that you could use on top of a smoothie bowl) nut milks, desserts such as ice pops and semi fredo; and pudding bowls.

For those that own their prior book; it was exciting to see this one chock full of new recipes which are divided up into basic recipes, simply smoothies, showstoppers (think toppings, creating layering and simply stunning beautiful concoctions), nut milks, juices and desserts.

The book beings with looking at how best to utilize this book -which usefully contains advice for diabetics or those looking to lower even natural sugar content with substitutions; a look at the smoothies vs juice debate, suggestions about building a smoothie friendly pantry and most useful for me, a how to guide which explores tips on making the perfect smoothie with the ideal components and way to layer in the blender. As a girl who has taken a big gulp of my green smoothie only to ingest a soggy wet leaf from improper blending, this was a neat guide.

The recipes are simple and well thought out: Basic recipes features ideas such as nut butters, granola sand muesli, and then we go into the actual smoothies. There we have ideas for a kids green smoothie, or an adult version, a mocha for use caffeine lovers, a night time smoothie that incorporate chamomile and some great post workout ideas which have ingredients that optimize recovery or performance. I loved this as I workout each morning and am always looking for that perfect post workout food.

The show stopper chapter is my favorite with STUNNING drinks, that though beautiful and quite complex looking, are simple to make. I should also point out that this book, unlike many of its competitors does not require a trip to a special and expensive health food store to procure ingredients, as for the most part, its fruits, Chia seeds, dates and I was excited to have all the ingredients at hand to make their vision of an Acai bowl (pictures to follow). The only things you do need on hand are a blender and should you want to use the juice section -a good juicer.

I love this book for all the creative, beautiful and varied recipes that are not a rehash of other recipes I have seen and cannot wait to work though all the recipes! The beautiful smoothies are also an easy and creative way to sneak more healthful foods into kid’s diets so there is truly something for everyone!

Great flavor, beautiful photographs, not just smoothies

There's a lot I like about this adorable book, but there are also a few major issues that keep it from being a solid 5 stars.
I'm going to start with the things I did like about this book first, and then discuss what I didn't.

Pros:
So far I've made the goji-mango-turmeric, upside-down breakfast, greens for all, and blueberry power smoothies. They were all delicious and the recipe made plenty for myself plus another serving. I absolutely loved the goji, mango, and turmeric smoothie - it tasted so refreshing and different from any smoothie I've ever seen or made. [I liked it a lot more before I added the chia seeds - once I did that and chilled it before going to work, one of my co-workers told me it looked like I was eating marinara sauce.] The others were also excellent - very refreshing, flavorful, filling, and nutritious.

Breakfast, before or after workouts, dessert, and snack time are all well-represented. Every recipe is accompanied by a picture, so you know what the end result will look like. There's an incredible amount of variety here, and any reader should be able to find some really interesting recipes to add to their repertoire. There are green smoothie options, fruit-only smoothies, nut butter based smoothies, and a variety of non-smoothie recipes as well. Many of the recipes are vegan and many of them look like something even a picky eater (kid, other adult, whomever) would enjoy. They're naturally sweetened with fruit - a few call for dates, but many rely on the natural flavors of the ripe produce.

Cons:
It's billed as a book about smoothies, but 2 of the 6 chapters deal with making nut milks and juicing. I get the nut milk recipes, as many of the smoothies rely on nut or rice milks. Plus, the recipe for making crackers out of the leftover nut pulp is a lovely touch. But the juicing chapter irks me because I don't have a juicer, don't intend on buying a juicer, and wish I had known that 7 of the 59 recipes would be about juicing, another 7 would involve nut milks, 5 would be for nut butter, chia pudding, popsicles, muesli, and granola. That's almost 33% of the book that isn't about smoothies.

Another issue is the lack of advice, anywhere I could see, about how long to chill the smoothies before serving. The instructions just say "serve" or "serve chilled" generally. Smoothies should be consumed reasonably quickly after making them, and there's a particular time window that you'll want to follow when making the recipes that call for chia seeds. Smoothies with chia seeds ought to sit about 15 minutes, but let them sit too long and they become gelatinous, jiggly puddings, which isn't what I want out of my morning smoothie. There aren't very many recipes that use chia seeds (or linseeds), but there are about 10.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with this book. I do wish they'd titled it differently, or focused more on smoothies, but the smoothies I have made have been terrific and I'm excited to continue trying their healthy and tasty concoctions.

I have followed the Green Kitchen Stories blog for a number of years so I pretty much knew what to expect. The book is filled with a variety of smoothie recipes from fairly simple ones to more complex ones with various layers. Even the fancier ones are pretty easy to make though. One thing I appreciate is that most all of the smoothies can be made with easy-to-get ingredients. They don't use a lot of specialty Super-Foods that can be expensive. I often will make substitutions if I don't have exactly what the recipe calls for and they are still really tasty. I've probably made about 8 - 10 of the recipes in the book and they have all been really good. Oh - and I should mention that the photography is beautiful as well. It really entices you to dive in and make a smoothie.

About the Author
Eric B. Shiraev is a professor and researcher at George Mason University. He received his PhD in political psychology from St Petersburg University, Russia, and completed a post-doctoral program at University of California, Los Angeles. He has extensive teaching and research experience at a number of distinguished universities both in the United States and abroad. Shiraev is the author, co-author, and/or co-editor of fourteen books and numerous publications in the fields of cross-cultural psychology, political psychology, and comparative studies. In addition to his teaching and scholarly pursuits, he also writes opinion essays for think-tanks, nongovernment organizations, and the media. Shiraev’s research interests include: history of science, comparative history of psychology, cross-cultural psychology, historical theories of abnormal behavior, political psychology, folk beliefs, scientific foundations of spirituality, and psychology of social adjustment and immigration.

A History of Psychology: An informative textbook for all uses

The second edition of A History of Psychology is much more attractive than the first edition. It has a very attractive cover, the text and cover is printed in color, and this edition is easy to read; i.e., either as a resource, for use as a textbook, or as a book to study from cover to cover. A student can use the "Check Your Knowledge" sections to highlight the many key points while studying which proved significant while reading the textbook, as in the prior edition. The many additional notes from the website are also helpful for study.

There are numerous examples of fascinating text in the textbook. A few are described below: At the end of Chapter 1, the author offers his idea of what psychology was in the beginning and how it has changed to date. He says that "pessimists emphasize psychology's fragmentation and are likely to look at its history as a sequence if incomplete theories" (p. 27). He goes on to say that critics then find weaknesses in the enthusiastic supporters' initial theories. This rollercoaster-like concept continues until the subject topic becomes a strong and diverse knowledge which is psychology today. In Chapter 6, examples of how mental illness was treated throughout the years were highlighted through physicians' ideas of treatment. Many of these treatments did not work and some patients were used as "guinea pigs" for research into providing a more effective cure for symptoms. Finally, in Chapter 7, the text highlights the start of behaviorism and John Watson's theory of human behavior, as based on animal behavior. A fascinating section offers Watson's own ideas of mental illness and why it occurs.

As I stated in my first review, I would consider it an honor to use this book for teaching. Additionally, having read this edition and compared it to the textbook used when Professor Shiraev taught the subject a few years ago at George Mason University, I found this book to be more informative and globally oriented which contributes to my knowledge of the subject.

Excellent book and would highly recommend

The book is very well-written and is quite enjoyable to read. The book approaches the history of psychology in a tremendously clever and readable way that it synthesis the interdisciplinary understanding of the history of psychology. The lessons throughout the book are excellent and students seem to really get a lot out of them. Moreover, I was very pleased to see that the book took a good look at non-Western practices - avoiding the overly Eurocentric view of other textbooks. Overall, the book deserves five stars for its well researched, well written and excellently designed text. I look forward to future editions!

Great Book!

This is an excellent book! It approaches the topic from a multidisciplinary lens, incorporating elements of history, liberal arts, and science, which makes it so interesting and engaging. It emphasizes diversity and gives weight to both Western and non-Western traditions and philosophies, presenting psychology as a global discipline. In my opinion, this book is very accessible and thorough, with a multitude of case examples and outside resources provided. Great book!

Puneet Asthana is a recognized expert in ABAP development; he has 18 years of development experience, and has worked for SAP for over 12 years. Apart from ABAP development, he is also an expert in IDoc, ALE, EDI, workflow, SAP PI, SAP Fiori, SAP WorkManager, and mobility. He has worked on a number of projects as a technical lead and has worked as a technical architect on a number of SAP Retail implementation projects. Puneet has participated in solution reviews, customer project issue escalations,and pre-sales activity and conducted workshops to help his colleagues. but initial review of the book is I am very pleased. The Structure of this book section

I will re-review after getting through the book completely, but initial review of the book is I am very pleased. The Structure of this book section, and Part 1 "General Introduction" cover how the book is laid out, and the basics you could learn from the official certification page, (difference between an associate and professional cert). The Strategic Understanding and Exam strategies sections weren't break through techniques, but good information for someone who hasn't studied for an IT cert before, or has been out of school for a while. I'm only a chapter into the bulk of the book, but am very please thus far- the information is broken up by topic, written clearly, and has graphic diagrams.

If you're familiar with SAP, and their learning material and courses, this book follows the same format. With that said, I've taken SAP courses, and own a few BW books, so I don't agree with the negative reviews. But then again, the technical content isn't overwhelming.

If you're new to programing, and SAP/ABAP specifically, it will be a more difficult read, and should probably be saved for after you learn alot of the base concepts and terms.

Perfect summary and highlights of the topics of the exam, i highly recommend it.
If you are a beginner you might not understand everything and you have to do additional research, but I think in this case you are not ready for the certification anyway.

This was absolutely essential in getting ready for the exam. The authors know the topics inside out. All preparation suggestions are 100% valid. I do not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone who wants to pass this exam on the first try.
