About the Author
Daniel Paolicchi was born in London and raised in Italy until age 12. He received his undergraduate degree from Tulane University, where Daniel majored in Spanish and spent his junior year abroad in Spain studying at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Daniel earned his Master’s degree in Spanish Literature from the University of Virginia. He has taught High School Spanish since 2003 and has been teaching at Montgomery Bell Academy (Nashville, TN) since 2008
Daniel’s first publication was the first edition of Barron’s AP Spanish Language Flash Cards (2011), a collaborative effort with Dr. Alice Springer. Following that, he edited Dr. Springer’s 7th edition of Barron’s AP Spanish Language prep book, and in 2014, authored the revision the 8th edition of Barron’s AP Spanish Language and Culture prep book. In 2015, Daniel authored the 2nd edition of Barron’s AP Spanish Language Flash Cards (2016), and he is currently working on the 9th edition of Barron’s AP Spanish Language and Culture prep book.

CD does not include all audio, but book content is excellent

I am a Spanish teacher. I have rated this book as 5 stars because (for my purposes) the format and content were challenging and high quality. The practice exercises & practice tests will help you to improve if you work consistently day by day. With that said, there is one MAJOR issue. I discovered that the disc included actually DOES NOT include ANY of the audio needed to do the practice print & listening combo, listening, & speaking exercises, although it DOES include the audio needed for the practice tests. This makes the book absolutely pointless to purchase. I called Amazon for an exchange after detailing the problem with the disc (it's like the tracks weren't all burnt to the disc or something which makes the practice sections (90%) of the book useless), and I was assured the disc would be thoroughly checked prior to being sent out to me. Of course, the disc was still perfectly packaged in the back of the book (NOT checked as promised, so 0 stars for that customer service rep) and of course I had the same issue with this new disc... It only included the audio needed for the practice tests, not any of the practice section. However, I made a call to Barron's (the company who actually makes the product), and was sent a replacement disc-- excellent customer service! This third disc actually has all the audio needed for the entire book (practice sections & exams), and it has been wonderful. No complaints (once I got the materials that are advertised here). I was absolutely frustrated upon learning that the disc does not include everything that is needed to work through the book, and I doubt it's just a fluke because Amazon sent me 2 copies of this product and they both had the same issue with the disc. While I understand that Amazon does not actually make this product, Amazon should ensure that what it advertises is what's actually being sold. If you're going to order this book, I would suggest calling straight to the company (Barron's) and saving yourself a lot of time and frustration.

Terrible no more

Where are the audio files related to the practice activities? Why does the CD only have 16 tracks, when there should be over 50? The few tracks that appear, are not labeled.

Barron's has phenomenal customer service. The publisher contacted me upon seeing this post and rectified the situation by sending me not only the audio files, but a new book as well. It is hard to give the correct amount of stars at the moment, since I have not yet gone through the materials. But we are off to a much better start!

MIssing answer explanations and exemplary response examples

While there are lots of pointers and plenty of practice opportunities in this book, it does not come close to being as helpful a resource as the Barron's French AP prep book. I purchased this because I was so impressed by the answer explanations and exemplary response examples I saw in the French version, but this book does not have those! It includes only answer keys (no explanations as to why you got the answers wrong or where to find the correct answer), and has no examples of good composition or presentation, as included in the French version. I would NOT buy this again, until they revise it and add the 2 necessary components that are missing.
