25th anniversary edition of the 15th anniversary edition

I love the Moosewood Cookbook. My copy of the 1977 edition is tattered, taped up and multi-stained.

When the 15th anniversary edition came out, I bought it so I could have a nice, not-falling-apart copy. Even though the cover stated "New Revised Edition". Unfortunately, the recipes had been edited, mostly to remove fat. Some recipes were gone altogether (e.g. Pakora and Tempura Vegetables). Others had eggs and cheese completely or partially replaced by other extra flavors; "Cheese Beans" became "Tart and Tangy Baked Beans", with cheese optional, an extra apple, plus molasses and cider vinegar. I tried both and liked the first much, much better, as with other recipe edits.

I bought this 40th anniversary edition for the same reason I bought the 15th. Unfortunately, there was no warning on the cover that I was getting the revised recipes. This isn't the 40th anniversary edition of the original Moosewood Cookbook, it's the 25th anniversary edition of the 15th anniversary edition.

I wish I could get a new copy of the original book.

Original Moosewood Cookbook ... Excellent!

Mollie Katzen's Moosewood Cookbook first appeared in 1977 and quickly became a favorite to many. Over the years it's been reissued several times. We had the original edition of the book for many years before a new-to-us dog chewed it up rather thoroughly so we replaced it with the then-current edition. Over time we noticed that some of our favorite recipes had been changed somewhat, and a couple had been dropped. We recently decided that it would be good to have a copy of the original so ordered a used copy through Amazon. Although used, the book is in excellent shape and we've had fun knocking off some of our old favorite recipes. While our newer edition is fine, we still prefer the original.

Love it! A valuable addition to my cookbook library.

My original 1977 Moosewood cookbook is in two pieces and stained from years of use. The lasagna (where it broke from repeated reference), quiche and nacho beer cheese sauce are all incredible! The Russian Macaroni is another winner. It'll be nice to have a kindle version.

Fantastic Book and Guide, with introduction to several Web server concepts, setup & config all-in-one!

1. This book shows you how to build your own Linux Web server with Ubuntu Linux. It does!
2. and host your own website, Yes!
3. at home for free, Yes, except for home internet service, from Time Warner or At&t.
4. without having to pay a web hosting, company like GoDaddy or Web.com: yes, and you get to have a webserver in your home.
5. Whether you are ten years old or 80, even if you have never worked with Linux before and you are not that good with computers. Mostly!! You do need to know how to locate accurate information, if you want to understand what you're doing. And this book does cover the total picture: For example, first thing you will see on your Linux Ubunto Server is "Landscape.canonical.com." This book explains the URL you see on your server, and it is actually the people who create Ubunto. I probably would have never figured this out surfing Ubunto Linux help sites on the web. This book is excellently written and fun to follow! This book does seem to introduce you to the big peices of server administration and it's pretty detailed. I think this book is tons better than going it alone and picking out your own Youtube or web blog guides.

I bought this book primarily, because I wanted an all-in-one guide that I had not found on youtube or reading blogs. My favorite part about this book is that it starts with making your own "Installation CD" (or DVD). I never found a youtube video that describes changing settings on firewalls, permissions, how to make forms and integrate MySQL, all in one place, like this Book does!!!

I also received a lot of help through email experimenting with permissions from the Author, M. Wright! I wanted to get his comments on permissions and he emailed new commands to try and elaborated. Super cool!

There are 4 minor things and I mention because they may help, as a new server admin, to minimize a few roadhumps:
1. I'm more of a windows desktop dude than a Linux server dude. It appears this book doesn't get into Apache, or the fold structure of Linux. Like why some files are in init.d and some are in other places.

2. The second thing I found is that arpscan is not mentioned in this book. Unless it's mentioned in the paypal or MySQl parts I haven't gone through yet. However, the back of the book lists many helpful linux commands. I wanted to bang around on my installation and change some things so I knew exactly what my server is going through and this book helps you easily cross reference commands you may see online, stay on track or easily start over, hence the bootable install CDR/DVD-/+R!

3. The third minor detail is that the built in Firewall with Ubunto called "ufw" may have caused me a problem or maybe I changed a setting. This book introduces the Ubunto built-in firewall and explains how to open port 22 for SFTP. In my case, I wasn't sure if the ufw firewall should be running or not, or if it runs automatically. At one time, I might have changed some settings, and I found my firewall wasn't running automatically. At one time, I had to add a rule to allow port 80 to get my website up and running. I don't think the books tells you to add a rule for port 80 in ufw.

4. The fourth issue I came across was during the email setup. I decided to reference a website, to get it working: https://rtcamp.com/tutorials/linux/ubuntu-postfix-gmail-smtp/, in particular, toggle Google's "junk" spam filter. And I'm not sure why the website uses the certificate of /etc/postfix/cacert.pem while the book calls for /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt.

In fantastic review, this book awesome! It lets you setup a SQL server, web server, mail server and goes over permissions and DNS. Another reason I purchased this book, is that it tells you how to make a CD (or DVR) so you can wipe (format) your server and redo everything or bring a CD to your friends house for installation. And the install takes about 35 minutes. I'm pretty happy with the book using Ubunto server because it seems Ubunto runs with a small footprint. I'm using 4% of my server memory and have Ubutno running on about a 4 year old 4Gb RAM desktop.

For knowledge, this book is technical and awesome! It makes me feel like I could have a conversation with a real Linux Admin, because it goes through install and configuration for free and includes setup for PHP, mySQL, mail, SSH, FTP..etc.

FUNNIER THAN HOLY HELL!!

This is one of P.G. Wodehouses's best books. Although he's never turned a tale anything but excellently, this is somehow more endearing than most. It starts out normal enough, with a man who just became an earl (Reginald, third Earl of Havershot) going off to Hollywood to save his alcoholic cousin from the deadly drink. He meets an actress by the name of April June, the very embodiment of virtue, on the way there-- or so he thinks. He also runs into his ex- finacee, whose engagement to him he bungled by way of a little accident with a cigar. After some very cold ice cream, he needs to have a tooth pulled. In the dentist's waiting room he meets little Joey Cooley, the child actor, Idol of American Motherhood, who will be undergoing the same torture as him. Well, both souls get administered some laughing gas, and this gives them the ability to be masters of the art of astral projection. But the thing is, little mischevious Joey puts his soul into Reggie's body, rather then his own. Reggie then has no choice but to inhabit the body of the child star with the golden curls. Now we've got a dilemma. See, Joey wants to poke everyone in the snout, and in Reggie's body, now has the strength to do so with optimum results. Uh-oh. And now Reggie is left with the mind of a grown man, but the mean Miss Brinkmeyer (the "tall, rangy, light-heavyweight, severe of aspect' woman with whom he shares a mutal hatred...animus is in the air) and all other of Cooley's keepers, who treat him like the eleven-year-old child they think he is. Double uh-oh.
This book is one of the funniest things I've ever read, not only because Wodehouse is a master of the English language and shows such a conatagious affection for it, but because it's a very zany tale that never fails to make you laugh and keep a smile on your face all day. There are so many more hilarious moments in this book, and not a page goes by without a good, hearty chuckle. I would highly recommend this book and all of Wodehouse's books, for that matter.

Read this before your next dentist visit

Laughing Gas was the first Wodehouse I ever read. I knew his work through some Jeeves tales (and their TV adaptations), but I had never ventured outside of those characters. Seeing that the storyline was somewhat like the Freaky Friday genre of films, I wanted to see what Wodehouse would do with this already familiar plot. I was not disappointed and I have gone back to him whenever I wanted something to make me laugh--as long as it's not an audiobook read by Jonathan Cecil!
Reginald, Third Earl of Havershot (gotta love those Wodehouse puns) finds himself in the dentist's chair after an embarrassing incident seated next to child star Joey Cooley ("Idol of American Motherhood"), going through the same procedure. After the administration of some of the titular anesthetic, the two have an out-of-body experience. The mischievous Cooley, however, instead of returning to his own corporeal form, slips into Reggie's, leaving our hero left with the tot's as his only choice. Hilarity ensues, as they say, as little Joey likes to go around punching people in the nose and continues to do so under the guise of Reggie. Meanwhile Reggie is party to the stories going around about "his" behavior and is powerless to stop them while in his current pint-sized form.
Wodehouse takes this in all of the expected directions and invents a few new ones, to boot, making Laughing Gas one of his best novels. Well, one of the best I've read, anyway.

It's a gas (plot summary)

Wodehouse's usual skill with the turn of phrase and the unlikely situation makes this book a delight. It's atypical of his work in that it contains a fantastic element: a grown man and a bratty child, visiting a dentist at the same time, accidentally have their souls switched while under the ether.

A clever way to entertain and heal

I'd heard of Susan Perrow through some friends that had attended one of her wonderful storytelling workshops and through her book - Healing Stories for Challenging Behaviour. I always knew that I didn't want to address any issues my children had directly by telling them they had a problem, and informing them of how we were going to fix it. I wanted a more subtle and gentle way that wouldn't "label" the child as having a particular issue. A Spoonful of Stories naturally sounded perfect for what I wanted to do - which was to open our children's eyes in a roundabout way to tools they could use to manage any problems or issues they had in their lives.
My two girls, 9 and 7, wanted to start at "A" and every night we've made our way through the Alphabet.
Now we're at "S" and I just can't wait to tell the world how wonderful this book is! There are so many wonderful aspects about the stories - for one, they're not too long, so they're perfect for bedtime. Most importantly though, they are just enchanting for the children. They listen intently to every word and nod sagely at the end. They rarely comment at the time (probably too tired) but the next day or week they will suddenly, apropos of nothing, refer back to one of the themes of the story we read - relating it to something that happened in their day.
One of their friends is being a "Cranky Cockatoo" or the youngest will say that she was sad when she felt that she hadn't done her best work at school, but then realised she was probably being "Perfectionist Pat".
I would recommend this book to anyone who either has any concerns about their children, or perhaps wants to avoid having any!

A great collection of short stories that can be read aloud to children. Each story suits a particular issue or difficulty. I use these stories in my counselling practice and children love them. I have at least 4 of Susan Perrow's books and I can always find the story I am needing to suit a particular client. Having these collections as ebooks means that I have portability without weight.

This book is a must-read for any rheumatologist interested in musculoskeletal ultrasound. It is definitely a review book and a comprehensive one at that. There's a great deal of cross-referencing with the latest literature which helps with context. The authors for each chapter were carefully selected and offer many clinically useful tips and "tricks of the trade." For those interested in rheumatologic musculoskeletal ultrasound, this is next book that I recommend after reading Jon Jacobson's Fundamentals of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, 2e.

This is a fabulous book , especially in the ultrasound for vasculitis by Dr. Andreas P. Diamantopoulos. I liked the ultrasound images, the solution for the ultrasound pitfalls inthis very challenging ultrasound, and the machine presets. I am recommending this book for all vascular and myoskeletal ultrasound sonographers. Thanks Very Much Dr. Diamantopoulos, and Dr. Kohler.

Let me first say I love a smutty, bad boy/good girl erotic tale as much as the next gal (there's a reason my kindle is password protected). This ain't one. Stilted, choppy writing (weirdly wandering narrative, lazy sexism disguised as characterization - other women are inferior airheads, loose, lack brains or ambition, the ex is a stripper who wears too much "pancake" make up, but our heroine is brainy, smart, lawyer "sassy"), one dimensional, annoying main characters, and brief, disappointing paint by numbers sex scenes. In sum, this book is completely passionless. If you like bad, really bad boys seducing brainy good girls, truly erotic sex, can't put it down books, read The Seduction Series by Roxy Sloane or Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren. (Audio Book folks - the narration is painful. Robotic delivery, no difference in characters' voices which ruins the fun of a dual POV. Every character sounded the same, I was so confused. My audible library is full of books where characters' voices, male and female, are so distinct I'm always surprised there was only one narrator. Beguiling the Beauty by Sherry Thomas and Seven Years to Sin by Sylvia Day are two.)

Hayden Oliver….. Let’s say that name again HAYDEN OLIVER. If you look under up the word Screwed in the Dictionary, you will certainly find only a two word definition: Hayden Oliver.

This book delivered in a serious way! Totally left me Screwed, that’s for sure. Why? Well simply because I am greedy and I want more of all things Hayden Oliver.

Kendall once again had me reading non-stop through yet another book. Screwed was witty, humorous, oh so sexy and downright delicious. It is one of those books that once you pick it up you will. Not. Put. It. Down. Till you finish.

Hayden Oliver is a successful property owner. The problem you ask? Well he doesn’t understand that his tenants shouldn’t take residency in his pants. He makes Melrose Place look tame compared to the way he has been living it up. He certainly leaves an uproar in his wake because he doesn’t want to settle down. His business partner, Hudson finally tells him to tuck the woman eater away and leave it there or else. This smart, gorgeous, all consuming male is going to have a hard time keeping his promise.

Emery has just moved into one of Hayden’s complexes. Moving to get to try get ahead in a new law firm, she has no time for anything but work and studying. She especially has no time for men. She’s sworn them off after being hurt by her last relationship. Only problem is, she didn’t know what she was in for when Hayden strolled up to introduce herself.

I absolutely loved this book. Hayden is one sexy, go –getter of a man. He doesn’t give up, that is for sure. Emery is so sweet and strong. The things Hayden would do to get her attention, had me laughing so hard my stomach hurt. The banter between these two was crazy! Friends only. That’s what they agreed to. But the sexual tension between these two is OFF THE CHARTS! Staying in a friend’s only status will be hard. Trying to ever go the more than friends route even harder when both have pasts that left them a little broken.

You will certainly laugh, you will swoon, your heart will hurt a little but most importantly you will fall in love with these two. Let me also bring up Hudson (Business Partner and best friend to Hayden). That man has a story to tell and I can’t wait for Kendall to give it to us!
Another 5 Star read from Kendall Ryan. She continues to deliver swoon-worthy, off the charts hot reads. Drop what you are doing and take the chance to be completely utterly SCREWED!

Disappointed

I bought this book based on the good reviews in Amazon but I was very disappointed.

I think that if you are an introvert that has no experience with extroverts that this book may have some value. Contrary to the introduction, I felt that it was primarily focused on utilising principles that extroverts use. This was re-enforced by the continual quoting of famous extroverts advice on how to self-promote. This is not what I was looking for. I know how extroverts function, I just also know that a lot of their strategies don't work nearly as well for me as they do for them.

The other disappointment was that a lot of the text was on what I would consider business-promotion, rather than self-promotion. The section on `Self-Promoting activities' listed (in order); Web sites, Advertising, blogging, podcasts, online-groups, classified ads, flyers, brochures... Sorry, but this is not self-promotion as I understand it.

In summary, this is a very entry level book. It may be a good introduction, but I found it very light and not very on-target.

Quite disappointed with this one

As an introvert, I feel that this book missed the mark. It is filled with clich�s, including that annoying corporate America "common sense" networking wisdom, such as "don't be too hard on yourself." I got really irritated after the third or fourth sports metaphor, and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't sports more of an extraverted endeavor? The most disappointing aspect of this book is that it borders on condescension, mocking introverts for wishing our talents would be noticed more, and proclaiming that we listen to "U-Suck" radio. I will agree that it's depressingly hard to compete in a business world ruled by extroverts, but Ms. Ancowitz has oversimplified this dilemma. For one, many of the exercises are of a get-out-there-and-do-it kind of style, which is a huge turn off.

I think the book would have been better if the exercises encouraged more introspection and creativity with regard to our understanding and marketing of ourselves. I agree with one of the reviewers who said that most of the advice is standard cookie cutter career advice which might as well have been written by an extravert. I'm even surprised that the author calls herself an introvert. But I'm not surprised that a couple of the five-star reviews here were written by extraverts in the corporate world. Who doesn't like to toot their own horn?

For what it's worth, the book does an OK job of explaining why we have a tough time getting noticed, but its advice on how to change that is marginally helpful at best, and patronizing at worst.

Not much help

I purchased this book hoping that it would have ideas to help me more successful in the extravert's world. I was completely disappointed in this respect. The book did little to help me become more successful in promoting myself and advertising the success that I enjoy, privately.

The book did help me understand a couple of points about extraverts that I had previously overlooked. That was about all I gained from it.
